Sermon Series-"Together We Build Our Church"- The Roof- "Prayer"-Luke 11:1-10 Prayer is not optional. There are 1,522 “if” clauses where God will do something, when we do our part. .
A. The Necessity of Prayer- 2 Chronicles 7:14
1. Prayer leads to salvation- Rom. 10:9, 10, 13- A prayer of confession is required.
2. Prayer leads to fellowship- Rev. 3:20- We grow in fellowship with God by time in prayer.
3. Prayer leads to spiritual growth- Acts 6:4- We must develop a strong devotional habit
4. Prayer leads to unexplained miracles- Acts 12:6- Peter was delivered from prison.
B. The Nature of prayer- Job 23:3 .
1. Prayer is -talking directly to God- Hosea 14:2
2. Prayer is – focusing God's power on a specific need- Exodus 9:33, James 5:17,18
3. Prayer is- hearing God share specific, divine directions-Isaiah 30:18,21 .
4. Prayer is - ministering to the Lord in praise, thanksgiving, and spiritual worship- Psalm 95:2,
C. The Neglect of Prayer- Jar. 2:32, 2 Chronicles 15:13, Num. 32:6
1. To neglect prayer is self-centered- Psalm 10:4- Failure to pray is saying we do not need God.
2. To neglect prayer Is slothful- Jer. 48:10, EccI. 10:18
3. To neglect prayer Is a sin- 1 Sam. 12;23, James 4:17
D. The Nucleus of prayer- Jesus Christ is the center of our prayers
1. Jesus loved to pray- Luke 5:16
2. Jesus taught us to pray- Luke 11 :1, John 14:12':'14
3. Jesus lives forever in prayer- Heb. 7:25, Rom.8:34
