DISCIPLESHIP

Disciples are Learning Followers of Christ: "A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher." Luke 6: 40

The Purpose of Discipleship is for His Followers to Become Like Christ: "Who have been called according to His purpose. For those God foreknew He also pre¬destined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers." Romans 8:28,29

Discipleship Means Loving Jesus More than Anyone or Anything:"If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, and wife and children, his brothers and sisters-yes and his own life- he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:26

Discipleship Means Daily Dying to My Will:"And any¬one who does not carry his cross and follow me can¬not be my disciple." Luke 14:27

A Disciple Must Count the Cost:"First sit down and estimate the cost ... any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:33

A Disciple Must Surrender to the Gradual Process of the Spirit within Changing Us to be Like Christ: "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect, the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His .likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." 2 Corinthians 3:18

The Spirit Gives the Desire and Strength to Grow: "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose." Philippians 2: 13

Our Responsibility is to Put off the Old Man and to Put on the New Man.'You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is corrupted by its deceitful desires; ... and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:22,24

Our Minds Must Be Renewed for this Transformation to Take Place:"To be made new in the attitude of your minds." Ephesians 4:23

The Bible is God's Tool to Change our Mind" Now I commit you to God and to the Word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are being set apart for His purpose." Acts 20:32

Everything in Life is Designed by God to Help us to Grow More Like Christ:"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose Romans 8:28

What Does the Bible Say-Sessions to Help Believers Connect Scripture to Current Issues: "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2
